This is the first full-blown study of Korean Taoism, a valuable outcome from the author’s untiring endeavors. From his basically competitive and polycentric view of the influence of Chinese culture in its relations with neighboring cultures, the author explores the origin, history and unique features of Korean Taoism. In view of the present underdeveloped state of Taoist studies in Korea, the book is expected to serve as a solid foundation for more active research going forward.
